A harmonic reducer is a type of gear mechanism that employs a wave generator, a rigid ring fixed in place, and a flexible ring as the output element. The wave generator is a rod‑shaped component fitted at both ends with rolling bearings to form rollers, which are pressed against the inner wall of the flexible ring. The flexible ring is a thin‑walled gear capable of undergoing substantial elastic deformation.

A harmonic reducer is a type of gear mechanism that employs a wave generator, a rigid ring fixed in place, and a flexible ring as the output element. The wave generator is a rod‑shaped component with rolling bearings at both ends, forming rollers that press tightly against the inner wall of the flexible ring. The flexible ring is a thin‑walled gear capable of undergoing substantial elastic deformation.

Harmonic reducers offer a high reduction ratio, enabling relatively high speed ratios even in a single-stage coaxial configuration. Unlike conventional gear engagements, they feature minimal backlash—an essential characteristic for the control‑system domain.

  High precision

Multiple teeth engage simultaneously, with two symmetrical gear pairs meshing; as a result, the effects of pitch error and cumulative pitch error on rotational accuracy are fairly balanced, enabling both positional and rotational accuracy to reach exceptionally high levels.

Compared with conventional gear units, this design achieves the same torque capacity and reduction ratio while reducing volume to one-third and weight to one-half, enabling compactness and lightweight construction.

The flexspline is made of a special steel with high fatigue strength. Unlike conventional gear drives, it features 30% of its teeth in simultaneous engagement and employs line contact, thereby reducing the load on each gear and enabling a very high torque capacity.

The sliding at the gear‑tooth contact points is minimal, reducing friction‑induced power losses. Consequently, high reduction ratios can be achieved while maintaining high efficiency, enabling compact drive designs.

Harmonic gear reducers achieve balanced transmission forces, operate quietly, and exhibit minimal vibration.

Harmonic drive products are widely used in industries such as electronics, aerospace, and robotics, and thanks to their unique advantages, their applications in the chemical industry are also steadily increasing.
